Bath Weekend 2021
THE FOLLOWING ITINERARY IS FROM A PAST SOCIETY TRIP, AND IS PRESENTED FOR INTEREST ONLY, TO ILLUSTRATE THE TYPE OF TRIP THAT THE SOCIETY ORGANISES WITHIN THE UNITED KINGDOM
Frankenstein in Bath
Friday 15th – Sunday 17th October 2021
Bath’s literary links are of particular significance to the Dracula Society when we think of William Beckford (Vathek), Angela Carter (The Bloody Chamber), and Mary Shelley, who wrote much of Frankenstein in a lodging house next to the Pump Room in the latter part of 1816.
Join us for a weekend in this delightful Georgian city, which will include a special talk on the birth of Frankenstein by our Honorary Life Member Sir Christopher Frayling.
Friday 15th October:
Arrive in Bath at leisure.
Meet up for dinner and drinks at 7pm at The Bath Brew House, James Street West.

Saturday 16th October:
Morning visit to Beckford’s Tower.
Afternoon at leisure.
At 6pm meet at The Boater pub Argyle Street (just off Pulteney Bridge) for a presentation by Christopher Frayling on the Bath connections of Frankenstein, followed by dinner.
Sunday 17th October:
Free time to explore the city, with possible group visits to places of interest, depending on time available.
Top attractions include the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, the Pump Room, Victoria Art Gallery, Royal Crescent, plus many other museums, galleries and historic buildings, and other literary connections, especially of course with Jane Austen.....
